No Alcohol Sales, Music Playing or Dancing on Good Friday , 29th March 2024

Liquor licence holders are reminded that the sale of alcohol is prohibited on Good Friday, as stated in Section 11 (1) of the Liquor Licensing Law (2019 Revision). Only hotels and restaurants with the appropriate licenses are exempted. 

The playing of music and dancing is also prohibited on Good Friday. This restriction applies to all license categories except for hotels, restaurants, airports and 'port areas' as stipluated in Section 3(1) and 3(2) of the Music and Dancing (Control) Act (2024 Revision).

License holders are further reminded that the last serving of alcohol on Thursday 28th March must be done 10 minutes prior to the end of the establishment's permitted hours in accordance with Section 11(8) of the Liquor Licensing Act (2019 Revision). The playing of music and dancing must cease at 11:59 pm due to the Good Friday holiday.

Existing businesses with permission to operate under the Sunday Trading Act (2023 Revision) can operate as usual on Christmas Eve until 11:59pm

Sunday Trading Permitted on Christmas Eve

Grand Cayman, 20 December 2023 – Existing businesses with permission to operate under the Sunday Trading Act (2023 Revision), are advised that operations may continue, as usual, on Christmas Eve, Sunday 24 December 2023 until 11:59 p.m.

While the Act prohibits businesses from opening on Sundays, premises listed in the Schedule to Section (6) of the Sunday Trading Act (gov.ky), are exempt.
